How To Use Samsung Recovery Solution
STEP 1. Choose A Restore Method
Before restoring your computer, you first have to choose a restore method. You can use Samsung Recovery Solution 4 to restore your computer using one of the restore methods described below.
Basic Restore - A Basic Restore reloads all the Windows operating system files and leaves all personal files, programs and settings intact. By reloading the Windows operating system, a Basic restore can fix many Windows related problems.
Complete Restore - A Complete Restore uses a Complete Backup to restore your system to the condition it was in when the Complete Backup was made. If you have no stored Complete Backups, you can still use the Complete Restore function to restore your computer to its initial status.
Data Restore - A Data Restore reloads files that you have previously backed up using a Data Backup.
System Software Installation - System Software Installation can be used to reload all the Samsung application and device driver files, leaving all other programs and settings intact. By reloading the System Software you can solve many hardware related problems.
Notes: If you are unable to load Windows, you can still run Samsung Recovery Solution by holding the F4 when powering on the computer.
STEP 2. Perform A Basic Restore
A Basic Restore reloads all the Windows operating system files and leaves all personal files, programs and settings intact. By reloading the Windows operating system, a Basic Restore can fix many Windows related problems.
To perform a Basic Restore, follow these steps:
- Tap the F4 Key at the Samsung logo when you first power on the computer. This method would be used if the computer powers on, but Windows does not load.
- Click Agree to accept the Licensing Agreement. Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads. If you close the Licensing Agreement dialog Samsung Recovery Solution 4 will close without making any changes.
- Once Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads, click Restore. The Restore dialog appears.
- Click Basic Restore. The Restore > Basic Restore dialog appears.
- On the Restore > Basic Restore dialog click Next.
Important: Make sure to have power connected to the PC. If power is lost during a restore, you need to start the process again from the beginning.
- Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to restart the computer to continue. Click OK to restart the computer.
- The computer restarts, and presents the Samsung Recovery Solution 4 Licensing Agreement, click Agree to continue.
- A progress bar appears showing the current transfer speed, the amount of data copied, elapsed time and estimated total time to completion.
- After the Basic Restore is complete, Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to restart your computer. Click Yes to restart.
- After you restart your computer, the restore process is complete.
STEP 3. Perform A Complete Restore
This restores the PC to the condition it was in when the Complete Backup was made. If a Complete Backup was never made, this can still be used to restore the PC to its initial status. (Out of the Box condition)
Warning: A Complete restore erases all current files, settings, programs, and other data and replaces them with the files, settings, programs, and other data contained in the Complete Backup. In other words, it restores your computer to the way it was when you made the Complete Backup. Also, note that any programs installed after the Complete Backup will still need to be reinstalled.
Important: If you have data that you need to save, create a Data Backup before performing a Complete Restore. With Data Backup you can save your files to an external device and then use Data Restore to load those files back onto the PC.
To perform a Complete Restore, follow these steps:
- Tap the F4 Key at the Samsung logo when you first power on the computer. This method would be used if the computer powers on, but Windows does not load.
- Click Agree to accept the Licensing Agreement. Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads. If you close the Licensing Agreement dialog Samsung Recovery Solution 4 will close without making any changes.
- Once Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads, click Restore. The Restore dialog appears.
- Click Complete Restore. The Restore > Complete Restore dialog appears.
- On the Restore > Complete Restore dialog, there is a list of backups created using Complete Backup and the expected time needed to perform a restore with each backup. If no backups have been created then the Computer Initial Status backup is the only item listed. Click the backup you would like to use for this restore, and then click Next.
Important: Make sure to have power connected to the PC. If power is lost during a restore, you need to start the process again from the beginning.
- Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to restart the computer to continue. Click OK to restart the computer.
Warning: If you have data on drive C that you do not want to lose, stop now and perform a Data Backup.
- The computer restarts and Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to click Yes to Delete all data on drive C. Click yes to proceed.
- A progress bar appears showing the current transfer speed, the amount of data copied, elapsed time, and estimated total time to completion.
- After the Complete Restore is complete, Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to restart your computer. Click OK to restart.
- After you restart your computer, the restore process is complete.
- You will need to perform an additional restart for Windows to apply it's changes.
- (depending on the system) you will also receive a Hyperspace notification
- Click Reinstall to overwrite the current copy of Hyperspace.
- Click Uninstall to remove Hyperspace from the computer.
- Click Cancel to leave Hyperspace unchanged.

STEP 4. Perform A Data Restore
A Data Restore reloads files that you have previously backed up using a Data Backup.
To perform a Data Restore, follow these steps:
- Tap the F4 Key at the Samsung logo when you first power on the computer. This method would be used if the computer powers on, but Windows does not load.
- Click Agree to accept the Licensing Agreement. Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads. If you close the Licensing Agreement dialog Samsung Recovery Solution 4 will close without making any changes.
- Once Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads, click Restore. The Restore dialog appears.
- Click Data Restore. The Restore > Data Restore dialog appears.
- On Restore > Data Restore dialog, there is a list of backups created using Data Backup. If no backups have been created, the list will be empty. Select the backup you would like to use for this restore, and uncheck any items you do not want to restore. When you are finished, click Next.
- Samsung Recovery Solution 4 displays a window offering two choices. After making a selection, click Next.
- Click Original Path if you want to restore files to their original locations.
- Click New Path, and then click Browse to select a new location.
- Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to confirm the restore. Click Yes to continue.
- Samsung Recovery Solution 4 displays a progress bar to show you the current progress of the restore.
- Click Yes to overwrite the files.
- Click No to keep the current files on the computer.
Note: If the files you are restoring already exist in the location selected in step 5, Samsung Recovery Solution 4 will ask you whether to overwrite the current files with the backup files.
- After the Data Restore is complete, Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to click OK.
- Click OK to complete the restore.
- Click Detail >> for detailed information on any data restore errors.
- After you’ve clicked OK, the Data restore is complete. Close Samsung Recovery Solution 4.
STEP 5. Perform A System Software Installation
System Software Installation can be used to reload all the Samsung application and device driver files, leaving all other programs, and settings intact. By reloading the System Software you can solve many hardware related problems.
To perform a System Software Installation, follow these steps:
- Tap the F4 Key at the Samsung logo when you first power on the computer. This method would be used if the computer powers on, but Windows does not load.
- Click Agree to accept the Licensing Agreement. Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads. If you close the Licensing Agreement dialog Samsung Recovery Solution 4 will close without making any changes.
- Once Samsung Recovery Solution 4 loads, click System Software. The System Software dialog appears.
- Click System Software Installation. Samsung Recovery Solution 4 prompts you to use Add & Remove programs in Control Panel for software related issues.
- If the issue you're experiencing is with a Samsung program or device driver, click Yes to continue.
- If the issue you're experiencing is with a program you have installed, click No and use Add or Remove programs in Control Panel.
- On the System Software dialog, select Recommended or Minimum-Required Items.
- Recommended Items - This installs a list of drivers or programs that are not currently installed on your PC from the backup created using System Software Backup.
- Minimum-Recommended - This installs the minimum required components (drivers, Samsung programs, Windows programs, etc.) that if not installed, may cause problems with your PC.
- After making your selection, click Install Now! to begin the installation process.
- System Software prompts you to restart the computer, click Finish to restart.
- After you restart your computer, the install process is complete.
